Five people confirm dead via a fatal accident

 ...Five individuals have tragically lost their lives, and 11 others sustained injuries in a fatal car crash on Saturday along the Calabar-Itu highway in Cross River State. 

The incident, happening around 3 p.m., involved a Nissan Caravan (registration GWB532XY) and an unregistered Mark Truck, as reported by Mr. Matthew Olonisaye, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Akwa Ibom Command. 

The Public Enlightenment Officer, Mr. Paul James, stated that speeding was the primary cause of the accident, emphasizing that adherence to safety regulations could have prevented it. Of the 16 people involved (11 males and 5 females), 3 females and 2 males lost their lives, while the remaining occupants suffered varying degrees of injuries. 

Following the incident report, FRSC operatives promptly responded, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals and depositing the deceased at the morgue. The road was subsequently cleared for smooth traffic flow. 

The sector commander issued a warning against speeding, wrong-way driving, and indiscriminate parking, urging drivers to prioritize safety. He also emphasized the responsibility of passengers in ensuring that drivers adhere to road safety measures.
